This is a common question, usually done by someone that is waiting for you to come to him/her. Now it’s easy to be answered through internet if you own a mobile phone with GPS receiver:

trackr!

You only need a mobile phone with a data plan (for example GPRS or UMTS). You also need a GPS receiver (as a seperate device or builtin). trackr! currently works on the following mobile phone types:

  • Windows Mobile 5 and 6 (PocketPC and Smartphone).
  • Java phones with support for MIDP2.0 (Nokia E50, N73, N95, Sony Ericsson C702, etc.).
  • Blackberry

With trackr! you can…

  • share your current location and track history with your friends
  • see on your mobile phone or on the trackr! website where your friends are
  • view what tracks you or your friends have traveled: distance, average speed, etc.
  • receive a warning when someone enters and/or leaves a certain area (geo-fencing)
  • Put photos on the map next to your track exactly where you shot them.
  • Automatically send updates to your Twitter and Hyves accounts as soon as you are online.
  • include a map with your current position on your own website/blog
  • use the Quick Access Code to immediately show others where you are at that moment, without requiring them to create trackr! account

Check out some screenshots.
trackr! is FREE for personal use.

My username there is Saxtus, so if you know me in real life, register yourself at trackr!, request friendship and I might allow you to see my whereabouts!

myTVShows – http://www.mytvshows.org/

  • Keep track of the episodes you’ve seen
  • Automatically import show, season and episode data
  • Check for new episodes on the fly (this works excellent after you import the current season and delete some garbage episodes that downloaded from epguides.com due to a bug at the importer I guess, fortunately it remembers what you’ve deleted)
  • Get news for your favorite TVShows (although I never use it, it’s good to be there)
  • If you need subtitles, you can keep track of them too! (i.e. you flag an episode as “subtitled” because you managed to download the subtitles needed, myTVShows doesn’t host or help find subtitles for you)
  • Rate your shows and episodes (the old known 5-star system)
  • Share with others (can be turned off) what series you track and what episodes you’ve seen
  • There is also an lo-fi iPhone/iPod Touch version of the site here: http://i.mytvshows.org/
  • Archive entire tv shows that you don’t currently watch so they won’t get in the way, without loosing your episode progress

I was using http://www.sidereel.com/ before I learn about this site. SideReel’s weakness was that is user-powered (like a tv shows wiki) and most series info was inaccurate or missing. It also did not let you choose what episodes you’ve seen, only to mark the last episode you’ve seen, implying that you watched all the previous episodes. The greatness of myTVShows is that it uses epguides.com as it’s source and is always accurate and up-to-date.
